What is a good size caravan?
The most popular size for an Australian touring (on-road) caravan is around six metres long, which is comfortable travelling for two. Size does matter but it depends on you! Keep in mind you’ll be living in a space smaller than the tiniest apartment so there are a few things to consider.
How many people are going to be on board? Do you need extra room for guests along the way? If you’re travelling with four or more you may be in the market for a bigger van, Essential Caravans have family floor plans that range from 8.3 to 8.9 metres and owning a larger, luxury caravan has its benefits. Aside from the extra room, having your own bathroom and toilet means independence on the road.
If cosier spaces and shared facilities are not an issue, smaller caravans are easier and cheaper to tow plus if you’re wanting to veer off the beaten track most popular off-road caravans are generally shorter as they need to be more manoeuvrable.
